The ESV Study Bible

October 15th, 2008 by James Grant

I received this in the mail today from Crossway:

This is a picture of the TruTone ESV Study Bible. You can see it and purchase it here: TruTone Classic Black. I had two initial reactions after opening the box. First, this is a big Bible. I figured it would have to be with all the content. But then I realized how comfortable it felt in my hand. The TruTone is well done in terms of its cover and binding (see also the TruTone Natural Brown).

Since it came today, I was able to take it to church tonight for our prayer meeting and Catechism class. I passed it around and let people look at it, and everyone was really impressed. In fact, we are getting an order together for next week. I personally think that the content is so well done that the study Bible can serve as an all in one resource at home, for personal devotions and family devotions.

I will be using this study Bible to preach and teach, so as time goes on I can comment more on its usability. The other editions of the ESV Study Bible are as follows: Black Bonded Leather, Burgundy Bonded Leather, Black Genuine Leather, Burgundy Genuine Leather, Premium Calfskin Leather. Thanks Crossway for sending the Bible and producing a wonderful study tool.

UPDATE: Tony Reinke has some great pictures of his Black TruTone Bible here.

This is what it took to get you to switch to the ESV? Well, at least you’re getting with the program. I might come back and hear you preach…
